Local eats

The Waterway Inn’s location is ideal for getting to a bevy of restaurants with a vast selection of foods to enjoy. From the delightful skillets on Christopher’s breakfast menu to the hometown brews of Northland Brewing Co., at any time of the day, there will be someplace to go and enjoy a meal.

Christopher’s Cafe has a phenomenal breakfast! Hearty skillets and omelets for anyone that enjoys their eggs with toppings, as well as other classic breakfast items such as biscuits and gravy, pancakes or waffles, and a varied lunch menu that is just as impeccable. Their wraps are phenomenal and their customer service is always top-notch!

Warming us up is Wilson’s Rivers Edge. During the summer you can sit on the porch and enjoy nice weather with your meal. My personal favorite for lunch is a bacon cheeseburger served with chips, but you have plenty of options such as fries or onion rings included in a menu that offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner! It also has stairs that lead down to the river, allowing some scenic access viewing while waiting for a table or to enjoy after the meal.

The Thirsty Sturgeon is a personal preference of the owners. Their favorites are pizza or fresh perch, and it has a great atmosphere. The food is well cooked, tastes fantastic, and has a menu with such a wide variety of options, you’re sure to find something suited to your tastes.

The newest addition in town, Northland Brewing Co. is the place to go for micro-brews and a good time. They have several different homemade beers on tap, with a range of unique names like Mother McClutchey’s Irish Stout to League Night Light, there is something for nearly every taste including those who like seltzers. There are food trucks located a few steps away, one of the current vendors is Dusty’s Gourmet Doghouse, which is of incredible quality. There is also a coffee shop and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and yard games such as cornhole.

Want a good pizza, look no further than BC Pizza! They have several specialty pizzas as well as thin and gluten-free crust options. Some of our favorites pizzas are the bacon double cheeseburger and bacon chicken ranch. The spi rolls and cheese bread make a great compliment to any order!

A few other places to visit include Vivios, which is a local favorite for those that have been coming to the area for decades, they offer generous portions that will leave you with enough to make another meal sometime in the future. Breakers in Topinabee has a nice menu with something for everyone and beautiful views of Mullett Lake. There are also 3 bars that are within walking distance of the Waterway Inn-The Brass Rail, 310 Station, and The Inn Between can help take care of your late evening cravings.

With a lot of range on price and food style and flavor, Indian River has a lot nearby to satisfy plenty of different palates. You can find the menu for these businesses online, and plenty of them have their own websites or you can find them on Facebook.
